Interpret AutoCAD drawings into an easy to use construction guide manual
Construction manual guide design for industry leading shed company
Tru-Bilt, a Melbourne based shed and garage company, requested an A4 construction guide / manual to help builders construct their structures. Using similar design aesthetics to the popular IKEA construction guides, critical thought behind ease of use, screw and bolt location and sizing, and process were stand-out features for this manual. With IKEA construction guides, they’re step-by-step manuals and clearly illustrate the process to create the object. Similar methodology was incorporated into the Tru-Bilt guide.
A4 manual design on how to build structures with ease and precision
I design this 28 page A4 manual with that in mind, using spreads to highlight screws (to scale) and an aesthetic I’d previously developed for Tru-Bilt Fabrications. Using the brands corporate colours, typography and fonts I’d previously incorporated into the brand allowing them to have a certain quality to match the quality of their product. As we know in Melbourne, there’s plenty of competition for shed and garage companies, so I developed an aesthetic, and construction guide on this occasion, to enhance the brand.
Making the guide as easy to follow as possible, with a clean aesthetic, was the priority for this manual.
AutoCAD illustrations to Adobe Illustrator
Included in this design are some illustrations I created, and others from AutoCAD. I took photos of the products as illustrated throughout the manual. The guide was printed on high-gloss, high GSM paper to allow for the quality of the manual to come through even further, and in addition, make the guide more readable and durable for the user.
Signage, brochure, banner, wrap, packaging...
