Logo Concept for Active Moreland (Moreland City Council)

I was lucky enough to be asked to design a logo for Active Moreland, an initiative developed by Moreland City Council which makes it easier for more people in the area to be active. My love for health, sport and fitness meant that I could design something I thought would be suitable for the northern city council of Melbourne.

Logo design for health, well-being and fitness

It’s important to design a logo with the demographic in mind. When it came to the Active Moreland job, my thoughts were, in particular, who would participate in the activities, what demographic and socio-economic group, prior experience, and so on. So, to design a logo that made those people feel like they could approach Active Moreland was at the forefront of my mind.

Not just a sports and aquatic centre, but for everyone

Aquatics and leisure centres entail the bulk of the meaning behind Active Moreland, with places such as Brunswick Baths, Coburg Leisure Centre, Fawkner Leisure Centre and Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre at their disposal for people to work out, swim, socialise and participate. However, my thought for the logo design was to create a symbol and environment that was all inclusive. Participation of all ages is the key, and when people may not be athletic or into fitness, it’s important to also appeal to them.
